August 2007 - November 2007

29 October - We'd like to wish Rufus a very happy birthday from roofsewell.com, the rufus forum and all of his fans! if you haven't checked out the Birthday Tribute Page today is the day to do it. You can find it here.

28 October Update - There are two new stories this morning about Rock 'n' Roll. One from the New York Daily News focusing on Rufus and another from NorthJersey.com focusing on Tom Stoppard. You can read them here and here.

28 October - We've got some great additions to the Rock 'n' Roll Fan Page thanks to tinkerdog. You can find them here. We also have a couple of new items in the photo gallery courtesy of ge2.

26 October - A small bit about Vinyan: (Sewell) says, "It was uncomfortable to read. I found it very difficult but I spoke to (my son) every day and got whatever contact I could. And after a while, the work became a very separate thing."  You can read the rest here.

25 October - With Rufus' Birthday just a few days away, it's time to unveil all of your hard work on the Rufus Birthday Page. You can click the link at the top of the page for the Clip of the Month or you can find it here.

If you happen to be in New York on November 5 Rufus and Sinead Cusack will be in attendance at An Evening with Trevor Nunn at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College. You can read more about here.

24 October - Men's Vogue has done a small interview with Rufus. Not much new but some lovely (and true) things were said: There was an edge to him, which I found unsurprising, given that in his presence reasonably sensible film journalists became totally insensible, announcing him breathlessly, like a teenage girl would: He was "Byronic," "unruly," "haunting," "smoldering," and—poor man—the "living incarnation of Heathcliff." The adjectives that went before him were trite and reductive because, above and beyond his physical beauty (Sewell is a joy to look at), he is a bloody good actor, a fact that had been mainly misted over. You can find the rest of it here.

23 October - Now that you've had a chance to see it, the autographed program in the upper right hand corner of the Rock 'n' Roll Fan Page will be given away to the winner of our first of three contests. To play, click the link for the Rufus Forum on your left and chose join. Further details will appear soon. Many many thanks to rufus for his patience and generousity in autographing our give-a-way goodies so we might pass them along to you.

22 October - We've added a special page for anything you'd like to share from "your" trip to see Rock 'n' Roll, be it photos, autographs (we've shared both) or something else. You can find it here and we'll include a quicklink above so you can check back often.

We even have a new photo from John Adams thanks to ge2. Be sure to have a look.

Rufus' birthday is closing in fast. The Birthday Page with all of your tributes will be up any day now, so keep checking back. Many thanks to everyone who contributed!

21 October - We've added some great new pictures to the photo section. We've even created a new page just to show them off. You can find an article from Variety about the prospects for Rock 'n' Roll here. If you're interested in what we thought about Rock 'n' Roll you can read it here.

20 October - We're back from NY and Rock 'n' Roll, and we've got lots to tell but to hold you over while we get some sleep, here's a little something Rufus generously shared:

We can't say thank you often enough. We'll have more Rufus later...

Always irrelevant but still fun, Rufus is being named -dropped in the gossip columns around New York. This one is from Rush & Malloy at The Daily News: Rufus Sewell left a big tip at Papatzul, where they actually serve the original dish the Mayans gave to conquistadors, thinking they were gods. No surprise to us, we always new Rufus was a sweetie, but are they trying to tell us something?

In case you've some how missed it: On Friday, previews begin at the Jacobs on Tom Stoppard's "Rock 'n' Roll," a hit last year... and we're so excited we can hardly wait! You can read the rest of the blurb here.

We've added some great new fan art and wallpapers. You can view them here.

There is still time to get in your videos, your wallpapers, your icons, your avatars, your poems and your artwork so we can feature them on our Rufus'  Birthday page. You can send your entries here.

The rest of the casting for Rock 'n' Roll has been finalized. Joining the previously announced Brian Cox, Sinead Cusack, Rufus Sewell, Nicole Ansari and Alice Eve will be: Brian Avers (Stephen) (The Lieutenant of Inishmore, King Lear), Mary Bacon (Gillian/Magda/Deirdre) (Arcadia, The Madras House), Seth Fisher (The Piper/Policeman) (Julius Caesar), Stephen Kunken (Ferdinand) (Frost/Nixon, Festen, Proof), Quentin Mare' (Nigel/Interrogator) (Coram Boy, Julius Caesar, King Lear), Ken Marks (Milan/Waiter) (Spring Awakening, After the Fall, Mamma Mia!) and Alexandra Neil (Candida) (Match). You can read the rest of the article here.                                                                                 If you haven't visited the Rock 'n' Roll website in a while it's time to check back. They've added a page with tastes of all the great music and a timeline for each of the historical and musical events relevant to the play. Check here and here.

Thanks to Uke we have few photos of the front of the Jacobs Theatre in all of its Rock 'n' Roll finery. You can view them here.

More commentary on the Fall season on Broadway and it's slate of plays rather than musicals:

So you didn't get enough of Tom Stoppard's special brand of dizzying, highbrow philosophizing in his nine-hour marathon, "The Coast of Utopia," last season? This play may be the closest to Stoppard's heart, because England's brainiest playwright is also a Czech refugee from Communism. Trevor Nunn ("Les Miserables") directs a cast that includes Brian Cox, Sinead Cusack and Rufus Sewell.

You can read the entire article here.

Another list of best things to do this fall from NYDailyNews.com that says Rufus in Rock 'n' Roll is the thing to see. You can read it here.

In all the whirl about Rock 'n' Roll we nearly missed the fact that Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet arrived on R1 DVD this week. Rufus never looked more amazing than he does as Fortinbras. And for our money he gives one of the best and most measured performances in the film. Pick it up today.

Here's a brief interview with Sinead Cusack who plays both Eleanor, Max's wife and Esme Jan's long lost love, in Rock 'n' Roll. There is a small mention of Rufus.

Amazing Grace comes out today on DVD in R2. To celebrate here is a great little article from realmovienews.com which had this to say about Rufus: It is Rufus Sewell who really stands out however as Thomas Clarkson. For once he is not playing a villain and he gets the chance to provide a few laughs in a very serious movie.
